Jesse Rosenfield

Spielpalast Cabaret, Myra Flynn

Jesse Rosenfield is a 23 year old musician based in Burlington, VT. Jesse graduated from the University of Vermont in 2008 where he received a double degree in Marketing and Jazz Studies. He studied composition, arranging, improvisation, drums, and piano with Dr. Alexander Stewart, as well as pianist Tom Cleary (Mike Gordon Band), and drummer Jeff Salisbury (former drummer for Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley). Jesse is currently one of the musical directors for the Spielpalast Cabaret, a vaudville-style musical which covers a range of music from Kurt Weill, to Bessie Smith, to belly dancing from the far east, which he arranges for and performs with. He also performs and tours with Myra Flynn, a indie/soul singer/songwriter/pianist also based in Burlington, VT. His Green Mountain snare drum provides the control and sensitivity to dynamics that his music demands.

Hometown – Fishers Island, NY / Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ / Waitsfield, VT
Birthday – June 2, 1980
Sign – Gemini
Height – 6 ’1 or 6’2 (when I’m wearing my big b-ball kicks behind the drumset.)
Weight – Floats between 160 and 180
Eyes – Hazel/Green
Nickname – Cado (inspired by my deep love for avocados)
Hobbies – Music, Red Wine, Driving, Vintage Mopeds, Small Amps, Old Records, Antiques, and Being by the Ocean.
Favorite Band – I’m inspired by a wide array of modern bands and classic music dating back to the 1920′s, but I would say the majority of my most influential bands/records are dated around 1970-1974. There’s just something magical about this period of time. New and old acts were churning out some mind blowing music both in the studio and on the stage. And the drum sounds were like a warm lump crab cake. hmm, hmm, hmm.
Hidden Hobby – Listening to the “Big Band and Hits of the 40′s” station on my parents XM Radio. The old timey sound of the songs transport me to a different time and put me in a good mood.
Memorable Moment – Seeing the Last Waltz for the first time and realizing that being a drummer like Levon Helm would be a nice way to spend my life. Then seeing Keith Moon in the “Kids Are Alright” and realizing it’d be nice to combine his merry filth and fury with Levon’s golden feel. Thing I Hate the Most – Touching stall handles from the inside and War.

Drums – Green Mountain “Vintage Shell” in Cobalt Blue Sparkle with Walnut Hoops.
Kit:
13″x9″, 16″x16″ toms
20″x16″ bass
15″x6 1/2″ snare.

Extra Snare:
14″x5″ “Nocturnal Beauty” Matt Burr Model (black brass shell w/ Black Sparkle Wood Hoops). Classic!!

TCE – This Changes Everything

Born 3/6/80 in Syracuse NY.
My father is a drummer so drumming was always a part of my life. He had an old blue sparkle Ludwig drum kit that he had set up in our garage, and I remember as a kid watching him play, and wanting to do the same. Dad even did a short stint years ago playing with The Byrds. A lot of people have more famous influences, but I must say if I never saw my dad beating on those old tubs to Jethro Tull in our garage, I probably never would have picked up a pair of sticks.
After years of playing in bands I formed This Changes Everything in 2007 with my brother Justin. With a mix of High energy Punk/Rock and Pop (with an edge), TCE has quickly acquired a fairly large, loyal fan base. Summer 2008 TCE won an opening slot for national recording artist Anberlin. Fall 2008 TCE completed the recording of our 3′rd EP “That’s what Friends are for”.
In my search for an original sound I came across Green Mountain Drums and was fortunate enough to “test drive” the sickest snare drum I’ve had the pleasure of hitting. I ended up using it on the entire EP, and the drum made a huge impression on the sound and texture of the recording! The guys at Green Mountain worked with me to get just the right sound I was looking for. My association with Green Mountain has been fantastic and I’m loving the ride! Playing what I honestly feel, are the BEST, most innovative drums on the market today!

Drums – Green Mountain “Circus Maximus” Kit:
Silver Sparkle with matching hoops (Orange Tang stars on Hoops).
11”x7” and 15”x13” toms. YES IT IS AN 11”!!!!
24”x22” Bass
Snare: Orange Tang Sparkle with matching hoops (Silver Stars on Hoops).

Steve Sopchak

Eyes Averted, Souvenirs

Steve Sopchak is a 23 year old recording engineer, who has owned and operated a recording facility in Central New York called The Square Studio, LLC for about 7 years. He is a drummer at heart, and has been touring across the US with his technical hardcore/punk band ‘Eyes Averted’ for the past five years. As a multi-instrumentalist, he shows his softer side while playing guitar in his current solo project ‘Souvenirs’ and the now-defunct indie act called ‘The Bells and Whistles’. Steve graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Oswego in 2008 as a marketing major, and has taken his studio full time since. For Steve, there has been no greater reward than forming lasting friendships with his clients, growing with them, and letting that growth fuel both parties’ collective progress as artists. He plans to continue to take the necessary steps towards making his space the best sounding, most practical, and most comfortable place to make a record in town. His relationship with Green Mountain Drums is one of those steps, and it has positively contributed to his sound both as an engineer and as a player.
